October Students of the Month The Drayton Education Association would like to announce the October DEA Students of the Month. The following students were nominated by Drayton Public School faculty and staff and voted upon by the Drayton Education Association to recognize them for their academic achievements, citizenship, setting a good example, and overall character. The October DEA Students of the Month are as follows: High School- Daniel De Souza, Senior: Daniel shows positive leadership in the classroom and on the football field. He is always willing to help others. Daniel has been seen tutoring other students and assisting community members when they need help. Daniel is so patient and has a knack for teaching others. Daniel is a great example of leadership. Elementary- Domenic Stellon, 5th Grade: Domenic is so kind and a good friend to his classmates. He is always looking out for the people around him. Domenic has shown selflessness by sharing with his classmates, like the day they ran out of freezies and he gave his away so someone else did not go without. He is always looking for ways to help out. Domenic is a wonderful example of kindness.

Mr. Riddles 7th grade Agriculture class researched biodegradable plastic and got the chance to make some homemade plastic using Ag products!

🎃 Halloween at Drayton School was packed with fun and learning! 🥕 To celebrate Farm to School Month, we started the day off with the USDA Mountain Plains Crunch Off, crunching into carrots and locally grown sugar beets. Our younger students then listened to Creepy Carrots read by Mrs. Lee. A few creepy carrots and ghosts were later spotted around school! PreK-2nd graders got a special treat when high school English students came to read with them. 📖 It was a Halloween full of smiles, spooky stories, and hands-on activities!

🔥 In October, our Pre-K and Kindergarten classes went on an exciting field trip as part of Fire Safety Month! During the trip, students learned valuable fire safety lessons, including: Fire Exit Strategies: The importance of having a plan for how to safely exit their home in case of a fire. Firefighter Tools and Gear: Students had the chance to look at various tools firefighters use and even try on some of their gear. Sleeping with Doors Closed: They learned how closing doors while sleeping can help slow the spread of fire and smoke. Smoke Detectors: The importance of having smoke detectors in every room of their home. It was an informative and hands-on experience that helped reinforce the importance of fire safety in a fun and engaging way! 🚒
